Anti-Corruption Week Convention

As an advocacy week celebrated nationally and internationally, this year’s edition of the Anti-Corruption Week (ACW) was set apart to decry the evils of corruption, demand accountability, and cause action against the corrupt. This 2020 ACW theme was ” Promoting Social Accountability through Active Citizenry”.

Unlike before, this year’s edition was conducted on a district basis across the 8 districts of Bundibugyo, Bunyangabu, Kasese, Kabarole, Kamwenge, Kyenjojo, Kyegegwa, and Kyenjojo. This year’s celebrations were undertaken in compliance with the COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures as issued by the Ministry of Health.

This edition was honoured by several participants including IAF members including the Office of the Inspector General of Government, Director of Public Prosecution, Office of the Auditor General, and the Directorate for Ethics and Integrity. Other participants included RDCs, District Chairpersons, CAOs, DPCs, DISOs, Heads of Departments, Governance Cluster Members, Media Fraternity, RAC Board, Staff, and Monitors among others.

This edition provided an opportunity for the different stakeholders to renew their commitment to the fight against corruption within the region and the country at large. RAC presented some of the pending cases for response and action by the responsible duty bearers, awarded each of the 8 district Local Governments certificates of recognition in appreciation of their commitment to the fight against corruption as well as conducted a Corporate Social Responsibility event at Kasese Municipal Health Center III whereby several necessities were given to mothers of neonates.
