Fort portal high court to dismiss 43 cases

The high court of Uganda at Fort Portal has issued a list of 43 cases planned to be dismissed as a way of reducing the exiting case backlog. The cases listed include civil and criminal cases that have not been followed up for over 15 years. (some cases are said to have been reported in 2002).

According to the court notice issued by the High court Judge AYUKO ANTHONY OJOK calling upon members of the public whose cases appear in the list to “show cause on or about 20th May 2017 why the listed files should not be dismissed for want of prosecution having taken no steps to have cases heard for over two years”.

RAC highly commends such interventions that aim at ensuring creating room for the recently reported cases that have stalled at court.
